Weddings

The covenant of marriage is a couple’s public declaration of their love and commitment to one another for the remainder to their lives, regardless of the future hardships they may face.  Weddings are a ceremony of worship, offering thanksgiving to God for the blessings of love and companionship, and therefore all weddings of Southminster are expected to have a faith component.

The Church teaches that marriage is the ideal condition for the raising of children, though has long welcomed and accepted people regardless of their family composition.  The United Church of Canada has a long history of inclusivity in marriage, being the first denomination to marry divorced persons, and marry same-sex couples. 

The stately Southminster sanctuary is a beautiful location for large weddings.  With a seating capacity of 950 people and renowned acoustics, the sanctuary can accommodate both large crowds and enjoyable live music on your special day.

The Buchanan Chapel is an intimate, light filled space that is perfectly suited for a smaller wedding.  Up to 70 guests can be seated in the chapel.  Stained glass art adds ambiance to the simple décor of the chapel.

The wedding packages at Southminster include use of the sanctuary/chapel, minister, organist, and wedding host.
